Why an internship at WebNest

Not an internship in a big company.

WebNest is a small team (Charlotte in technical, Louis in sales). The internship makes perfect sense as it is set within a clear, demanding, and educational framework. Three major differences from an internship in a large agency.

— 01

Direct supervision

You are directly supervised by Charlotte, the founder. No intermediate project manager, no "ask your tutor who will ask their lead". You ask, you get the answer, you code.

— 02

Real client projects

From the second week, you will be coding on real client projects that will go live. No "internal assignments for 3 months", no "you can redo the WebNest site to practice".

— 03

Niche profession

Odoo front-end is rare in the Belgian market. By the end of the internship, you will have a specific technical skill that is in demand and well-paid at Odoo specialised agencies and with Odoo publishers themselves.

Desired profile

Not a list of degrees, an attitude.

WebNest is looking for someone curious, autonomous, ready to code cleanly. Academic training matters less than the ability to learn quickly and ask the right questions. What follows is indicative, not restrictive.

What you will learn

Eight concrete skills.

Throughout the internship, you will develop skills in these eight areas. All are directly applicable upon completion: a front-end developer who has completed an Odoo internship at WebNest knows how to code an Odoo site from A to Z.

A

QWeb and templates

Understand the structure of Odoo templates, inherit them, and customise them properly.

B

Custom snippets

Create reusable Odoo snippets, with editable options on the builder side.

C

Advanced Odoo CSS

CSS specificity, overriding Bootstrap, CSS variables, scroll animations.

D

JS in Odoo

Native JavaScript in the Odoo web module, interactions, micro-animations.

E

Responsive and a11y

Mobile-first, Bootstrap breakpoints, WCAG accessibility, Lighthouse 90+.

F

Technical SEO

Semantic markup, Schema.org, Open Graph, sitemap, multilingual hreflang.

G

Client workflow

Brief, testing, delivery. Understand how a web project is born and ends.

H

Clean code

Readability, useful comments, naming conventions, refactoring.

A day at WebNest

What a day of an internship looks like.

No clock routine, but a rhythm. This is roughly what a typical day looks like after the third week, when you are settled into the ongoing project.

9:00

Coffee and quick catch-up

Fifteen minutes, sometimes less. We share what we have planned for the day and any issues we're facing. No ritual stand-up, just a conversation.

9:30

Back to coding

You make progress on the ongoing project, in the client's Odoo. Charlotte is in the next room or available via message if you get stuck.

12:30

Lunch break

Lunch together if we're on-site, or each on our own. No theatre of "we always have lunch as a team".

13:30

We look at things together (from time to time)

When you have a question, when a piece of code deserves discussion, or when someone just wants to show you a trick. No scheduled reviews, it happens when it needs to.

15:00

Client video call (sometimes)

If we have a client on a video call, you listen. Not to just be present: to understand how we talk to clients and how a project is framed. After a few weeks, you contribute to technical topics when you feel ready.

17:30

End of the day

You close your laptop when your day is done. No mandatory debrief. If we have something to say, we say it; otherwise, we save it for tomorrow.

Internship questions

All about the WebNest internship.

Click on a question to open the answer. If yours isn't there, we can discuss it in a video call.

  • What is the duration of a WebNest internship?
Between3 and 6 months, depending on your school internship agreement and our current needs. Ideally full-time, but we can adapt according to your academic schedule. The duration is set from the first call.
  • Is the internship paid?
No, the internship is not paid by default. This is a classic student internship, governed by Belgian legislation. Depending on the duration and situation, meal or transport reimbursement may be provided. If your school requires a paid internship agreement, we will discuss it on a case-by-case basis.
  • Do I need to already know Odoo?
No.No knowledge of Odoo is requiredat the start. Training on Odoo takes place on-site during the first week. What matters is mastering the basics of front-end (HTML, CSS, a bit of JS) and being curious.
  • Is the internship in-person or remote?
Mix. Au démarrage du stage, on privilégie le présentiel à Tubize pour bien cadrer les bases et faciliter l'encadrement direct. Une fois autonome, on bascule sur du télétravail partiel selon vos préférences.
  • Is there a possibility of hiring at the end of the internship?
No automatic promise. WebNest is a small team and does not systematically hire at the end. However, we have anetwork of Odoo agencies and partner publishersthat regularly look for Odoo front-end developers. We will actively connect you at the end of the internship.
  • When does the internship start?
We typically hostone intern at a time, for periods of 3 to 6 months. Apply whenever you want, we will check our availability on the date of your agreement. Often a season in advance to plan well.
