La Ferme du Parc Maximilien: a rescued site, and rethought.
La Ferme du Parc Maximilien is an urban, educational farm in the heart of Brussels. Its site, inherited from a poorly managed migration, was unstable and impossible to modify. WebNest got it back on its feet (stable, editable without code) then rethought the entire booking system, a bespoke journey by type of activity.
La Ferme du Parc Maximilien is an urban, educational farm in the very heart of Brussels.
Animals, nature workshops, camps, birthdays, team building, and free entry for all. A lively place, open to families, schools and businesses.
The starting point.
Before us, the site had just been migrated to Odoo from another technology, by someone who clearly didn't master the tool. The result: an unstable site, riddled with problems. Some pages had been rebuilt « hard-coded » in the code during the migration. The team hadn't steered that migration and didn't know how it had been done.
The most telling symptom: impossible to add or replace certain images, particularly on the booking pages. Instead, Odoo displayed a grey crossed-out camera icon. Total technical dependency, for changes that should take two clicks.
Our approach.
UX / Design
Previously, an activity page mostly showed an image and a title. The details were hidden behind a "read more" link leading to a long, dense page, and visitors had to go back to make a booking. This fragmented journey generated a steady stream of emails asking "is this date available?". We redesigned the activity page so the essentials are visible straight away.
Technical
The farm insisted on a precise point: avoid Stripe and keep payment by bank transfer. Except that Odoo, natively, can't validate an appointment until it's paid, which, with a transfer, creates a gap: the slot stays blocked without being confirmed. We solved that with automated actions.
Custom-built
Our first mission: get the site back on its feet. We carried out the redesign, fixed the bugs down to the database, and above all untangled what had been « hard-coded » to bring it back into Odoo's standard tools. The goal: that the team can once again add, replace and display its images from the editor, without ever touching the code.
Not all activities are booked the same way. A children's camp has nothing to do with a corporate private hire. Rather than a single journey, we mapped each type of request to the right Odoo tool, so the client experiences the appropriate journey, and the team receives the request in the right place.
On the back-office side, each channel feeds the right module: volunteers and student placements become project tasks, waiting lists become CRM opportunities, and requests for details go straight into the team's inbox. Nothing is lost, everything arrives organised.
The result.
What WebNest delivered.
La Ferme du Parc Maximilien has regained a clean, stable and autonomous site: images are managed from the editor, the activity pages are clear, and each type of booking follows the journey that suits it. The technical dependency is gone, the team can evolve its site itself.
For WebNest, this project sums up a skill we love: taking over a broken site and giving it back its clarity. Not just repairing it, making it better than before.
